ALTERATIONS IN SERUM IODINE FRACTIONS INDUCED BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF INORGANIC IODIDEL IN MASSIVE DOSAGE*†

Abstract
Employing a modification of the Barker technic for the detn. of protein-bound I (SPI), effects of admn. of KI in doses up to 3-7 g. daily to patients with various illnesses were observed. Total I rose to over 800 [mu]g.%, and SPI was elevated above normal levels in all instances. Thyroxine levels did not show corresponding rises, and stigmata of metabolic hyperactivity failed to appear.
