Abstract
A mechanical/electrical system for generating a highly turbulent "puff" of cornbusting gas is described. This system is shown to have properties comparable to plasma jet ignition when either is used in a combustion bomb. Specifically, the ignition delay and combustion times arc reduced in comparison to a standard spark ignition system. However, the main problems related to plasma jet ignition (i.e. high energy consumption and high electrode eros ibn) arc no longer drawbacks with the proposed system. Keywords
