Abstract
The anionic detergent, Teepol 710, together with dithionite as a reducing agent, are used in this simplified method for the determination of serum iron and iron in other biological materials. The constituent proteins remain in solution and the dissociated ferrous ions are allowed to react with bathophenanthroline sulphonate to form a strongly coloured complex. The method offers a simple technique, excellent reproducibility, and high accuracy based on iron recoveries and comparison data. Keywords
