Abstract
Three cases of complex partial status which were diagnosed as psychotic episodes are presented. The scans of two of these cases show stuctural abnormalities in the left temporal lobe. It is proposed that there are similar neurophysiological mechanisms in primary schizophrenia and in the perceptual, affective and cognitive phenomena apparent is some complex and psychic partial seizures. The hippocampalamygdaline system plays a central role in both cases. Keywords
