The Effect of Isoniazid and Para-Aminosalicylic Acid on Infection in Mice Produced byMycobacterium Kansasii1,2

Abstract
Despite susceptibility in-vitro, para-aminosalicylic (PAS) acid did not inhibit growth of strain-A of M. kansasii in-vivo. The infective processes was enhanced by the administration of PAS to the animals. The maintenance in the block of a concentration of 0.6-2.4 of microbiologically active isoniazid/ml (0.05% in diet) suppressed growth of strain-A and destroyed the injected organisms. Streptomycin exerted a definite, but limited, chemotherapeutic effect.
