Renal Imaging After Partial Renal Irradiation

Abstract
A case is reported of increased Tc-99m-MDP concentration occurring in the kidney of an adult male patient after 4500 rads of external radiation treatment. Other scintigraphic and radiographic findings are presented. Possible mechanisms underlying the abnormal Tc-99m- MDP uptake are discussed, the most likely histopathological changes after radiation are suggested, and the pertinent literature is reviewed.
