Abstract
The following changes were noted in the plasma concn. of free amino acids following complete hepatectomy in adult dogs: an increase occurred in the concn. of glycine, histidine, glutamic acid and lysine; a decrease occurred in the plasma concns. of methionine, tryptophan, leucine, arginine and valine; and there were variable or inconclusive results on the other amino acids studied. Glucose infusion caused an increase in the urinary excretion of all 18 amino acids that were studied. Complete hepatectomy caused a definite increase in amino acid excretion over that produced by glucose infusion for all of the amino acids studied except glycine. Keywords
