Abstract
The increase in adhesion obtained for aluminium films by the pre-deposition of films of chromium is investigated, using Heavens' method of adhesion testing. It is found that the adhesion varies with the thickness of the chromium film, and with time. The variation with time suggests that the nature of the increase in adhesion is primarily one of alloying at the metallic interface, and subsequent age-hardening.Keywords
