Abstract
Carotene cleavage was demonstrated in the corpus luteum of cattle and activity characteristics are compared to the intestinal mucosa. At mid-ovulation, specific activity of the carotene cleavage enzymes was 2-fold greater in the corpus luteum than in the intestine. In the corpus rubicans and in the regressing corpus luteum, the specific activity appeared to be lower than that observed in mid-ovulation.
