Abstract
A prediction formula was devised by which the concn. of blood serum Na may be estimated within [plus or minus]10 millieq./1. from the concns. of CO2 and chloride. This formula is inapplicable for hyperchloremia in which erroneously high values result, and for impaired respiratory elimination of CO2 in which erroneously low values occur. Since these sources of error are readily detectable they do not detract greatly from the value of the formula. Keywords
