Abstract
The preparation of the lipopolysaccharide from S. abortus-equi as obtained by standardized methods is described. They include extraction with phenol/water followed by phenol/chloroform/petroleum ether extraction, ultra-centrifugation, electrodialysis and conversion to a uniform sodium salt form. Chemical composition and physico-chemical properties are described. The preparation, which is free of contaminants, was tested for local Schwartzman reactivity, pyrogenicity, lethal toxicity, mitogenicity, reactivity towards complement and tumoricidal action. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
