Abstract
Recently a Letter by Padalia et al. has appeared in Journal of Physics C (vol.14, p.L93, 1981), where the authors claim that by XPS experiments performed on CeNi2 they can deduce the existence of an intermediate valence (IV) state in this compound. In the present authors' opinion such a conclusion is premature and may be confusing for people who work in the area of mixed valent compounds. They therefore give in this Letter several comments about this experiment. Keywords
