Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A 57-year-old right-handed woman was admitted to the hospital because of dizziness, nausea, and "things jumping around" in her visual fields. She was well until six years earlier, when she experienced the abrupt onset of vertigo with vomiting. She was seen elsewhere; a diagnosis of labyrinthitis was made, and meclizine was prescribed, with improvement in two days. She was then well until three weeks before admission, when she awoke with a vague bifrontal headache and nausea. During the next two days progressively severe vertigo recurred.
