Abstract
Laboratory tests indicated that virgin Hypsipyla grandella females were attracted to new Cedrela odorata leaves. During the dry season when C. odorata loses its foliage, virgin females select susceptible hosts by olfactory cues emanating from fresh bark or from resins and frass exuding from older attacks. Mated females and males showed little or no preference to host materials.
