Abstract
Twenty patients with bilharzial hepatic fibrosis were radiologically investigated to assess the size of the azygos vein by antero-posterior chest tomography and azygography. A new technique of interspinous intravenous azygography was adopted, and proved successful. The azygos vein was dilated, as compared with a normal control group, and the dilatation could be related to the extent of the oesophageal varices demonstrated by the oesophagogram. Keywords
