Abstract
The next generation of consumer-driven care will require more attention to value-based insurance design so as to ensure that patients have access to appropriate and high-quality care. This can be accomplished so long as insurers carefully integrate financial incentives into benefit design, build advice about evidence-based medicine into their plans, and thoroughly use the increased facility of information technology in their efforts. Keywords
