Abstract
Cerebrospinal fluids were obtained from women during pregnancy and the 2nd to 6th hour of labor and titrated for their concentrations of oxytocic substance by means of the isolated guinea pig uterus. No material difference was found[long dash]a fact which is not in accordance with the theory of Dixon and Marshall as to the interaction of the ovary and the hypophysis in terminating normal pregnancy. The oxytocic substance seemed not to be a histamine-like body. The absolute concentrations in human cerebrospinal fluids approximated the amounts found by Trendelenburg and by Miura in laboratory animals. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
