Abstract
Is any one test best to identify thyroid dysfunction? Should different tests be obtained when thyrotoxicosis and hypothyroidism are being considered as diagnoses? How do nonthyroidal illnesses and drugs influence thyroid function tests? How much do the tests cost? The authors give their answers to all of these questions and also review the essentials of thyroid physiology on which the tests are based. Keywords
