A Study of the Composition of the Ether Soluble Fraction of Raw Silk

Abstract

The ether soluble fraction of white Chinese silk has been prepared and analyzed. The "silk wax" was found to consist of a mixture of normal primary alcohols and acids of the order C₂₆— C₃₂, paraffins, of the order C₂₃— C₃₁ and liquid fatty acids.
