Abstract
The "hard-pion" calculations for the system are reexamined with the smoothness hypothesis replaced by the use of the Bjorken limit and the algebra-of-fields current commutators. The new results contain one additional parameter which affects only the transverse coupling, and are in better agreement with experiment. It is pointed out that it is impossible to combine the quark-model commutation relations with these hard-pion methods.
