Abstract
A new branch of organic sulfur chemistry based on acetylene, developed only recently, has produced novel reactions and chemicals of interest for both fine synthesis and large-scale industry. Reactions of sulfur and chalcogen nucleophiles with acetylenes in superbasic media and some prospective applications of these reactions are discussed. Some synthetic uses of the now technically available compounds divinyl sulfide and divinyl sulfoxide are also described. Keywords
