Abstract
Leaf distortion, a disorder of the tomato which causes dark-green twisted leaves, is shown to be a variant of silvering. Leaf distortion is commonly observed together with a small percentage of silvering on the cv Eurocross BB, but is occasionally seen on other cultivars. Three types have been recognized. The most frequent appears to be an L2 mutant like silvering, whereas the other two probably have mutant L1 or L1 + L2 layers respectively. Fruit losses in Eurocross BB are only 25% of those expected on a silvering-susceptible cultivar. Susceptibility to leaf distortion or to silvering is a cytoplasmically determined difference. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
