Hypercalcemia in Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia

Abstract
SERUM calcium concentration may be elevated in any neoplastic disorder associated with bone destruction, either primary or metastatic. However, relatively few cases of hypercalcemia and bone destruction have been observed in conjunction with leukemia.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 In the majority of previously reported cases of hypercalcemia, the patients have had one of the acute leukemias,1 , 2 , 4 , 7 , 8 and in the remainder chronic lymphocytic leukemia was the diagnosis.5 , 6 Two patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia associated with severe hypercalcemia were recently observed.
