Baryon Magnetic-Moment Sum Rules in BrokenSU3andSU6Symmetries

Abstract
The ϕω mixing model for the breaking of SU3 symmetry has been used to obtain sum rules for the magnetic moments of the octet baryons in broken SU3 and SU6. The contributions of the vector couplings are assumed to be dominant over those of the tensor couplings in the self-energy effects of the model. It is found that the sum rules obtained are consistent with the magnetic moments of SU6 symmetry (Coleman-Glashow relations plus μp=32μn) modified by appropriate mass ratios only under very restrictive choice of values for the parameters that occur in our model.
