Abstract
5-nucleotidase activity in semitendinosus muscle of normal and white muscle diseased (WMD) lambs was assayed. The activity of this enzyme was found to be significantly greater in affected than in normal tissue. Possible roles of the 5-nucleotidase reaction in soft tissue calcification and in deranged nucleoprotein and protein syntheses are suggested. Keywords
