EFFECT OF BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS AND INSULIN LACK ON GLUCONEOGENESIS BY THE KIDNEY OF THE DOG

Abstract
The rate of decline of the blood sugar in hepatectomized dogs is more rapid in nephrectomized. animals than in those with intact kidneys. This is true both in the normal and diabetic dog. Renal gluconeogenesis in normal animals occurred irrespective of the blood sugar levels. The same amt. of sugar appears to be contributed to the blood by the kidneys of normal and of untreated diabetic dogs.
