Genetics of Ustilago violacea. IX. Spontaneous and Induced Mitotic Recombination

Abstract
Spontaneous and induced mitotic recombination occurred in nine strains of U stilago violacea heterozygous for two or three closely linked, centromere-linked mutations for different colony colors Mitotic recombination was detected by diploid sectors or colonies with a color different from the pink diploid heterozygous strains Spontaneous and induced mitotic recombination occurred more frequently in one chromosome arm than in the other One mutation in the white locus appeared to enhance mitotic recombination Mitotic crossing-over and gene conversion account for mitotic recombination, depending on the genotype of the diploid strains
