Asymptotic behavior of the ground-state-energy expansion forH2+in terms of internuclear separation

Abstract
The asymptotic behavior of the coefficients an in the expansion of the ground-state energy of the hydrogen molecular ion in terms of the inverse powers of the internuclear separation is found to be an=(n+1)!2ne2[1+2n120n245n3+O(n4)]. The first two terms of this numerically obtained expression agree with the "asymptotic conjecture" involving the lowest excitation energy of H2+
