Unoccupied electronic structure of Au and Ag on Ge(111)

Abstract
The surfaces formed by the vapor deposition of Au and Ag on reconstructed c(2×8)Ge(111) were studied with the techniques of k-resolved inverse photoelectron spectroscopy (KRIPES), low-energy electron diffraction, and Auger-electron spectroscopy. Depositions were performed with the samples at room and elevated temperatures. Several interesting structures were observed in the KRIPES spectra, including dispersive peaks and a pair of features that have been assigned as Ag(111)-like intrinsic surface and image-potential states.
