Abstract
The 4 principal stages in the development of the sporangium of A. aplanes var. indica were observed in vivo and in fixed condition. They are: (1) inflow of protoplasm resulting in the formation of sporangium initials and basal septum; (2) stage of preliminary division; (3) homogenous stage; (4) stage of final division and formation of zoospores. The zoospores after liberation undergo a period of rest, after which they germinate directly by germ tubes. There is no nuclear division in the sporangium. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
