Abstract
Five patients who had intracranial lesions and hyperosmolarity are described and certain metabolic data relating to the cause of the hyperosmolarity are presented. Interpretation of these data indicated that the hyperosmolarity was due to a combination of negative water balance (dehydration) and positive electrolyte balance. Some of the pertinent literature referable to this problem is discussed. Keywords
