Abstract
It is shown that if more accurate neutrino opacities (including effects of electron degeneracy) are used in a gravitational collapse calculation, then the effects of neutral currents and coherent scattering may be considerably greater than was previously thought. It is also shown that a careful inclusion of the electron-capture neutrinos should increase the importance of the region near densities of ∼ 2 × g/.
