Primary Angle-Closure Glaucoma

Abstract
The corticosteroid responsiveness of intraocular pressure was determined in 15 primary angleclosure glaucoma patients. None of them responded to the topical administration of 0.1% betamethasone ophthalmic solution with a rise in pressure greater than 6 mm Hg. The high incidence of a positive corticosteroid response in primary open-angle glaucoma patients, their siblings, and glaucoma suspects is in sharp contrast to the absence of corticosteroid responders in the group of patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma who were studied. However, the results of the study compare favorably to the high frequency of nonresponders in the selected normals.
