Abstract
Extract Reports of pulmonary lesions caused by Aspergillus spp. have been reviewed by Ainsworthand Austwick ( 1959 Ainsworth, G.C. and Austwick, P.K.C. 1959. Fungal Diseases of Animals, Review Series No. 6 Farnham Royal, , England: Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux. [Google Scholar] ) and a brief description of several types of lesions was given. The acute form was stated to consist of miliary, yellow-white nodules 1 to 3 mm diameter embedded in a zone of atelectasis, evenly distributed throughout otherwise normal lung parenchyma. Chronic lesions were considered to result from the extension and enlargement of the acute nodular lesions, and calcification and cavitation ensued. Peracute pneumonia, which presumably was fatal, consisted of “complete congestion of lung tissue without nodule formation”.Keywords
