Abstract
Interference structures observed in reflection and transmission spectra of thin semiconducting slabs in the excitonic region of the spectrum are investigated within the framework of Stahl's coherent wave theory of electrodynamic processes near the semiconductor band edge. The theoretical spectra agree well with those experimentally observed. An adjustable damping parameter is used. From the best fit the exciton collision time is determined. Keywords
