Abstract
A simple chromatographic method is described for the quantitative analysis of the bases of ribonucleic acids. The sample is hydrolyzed for 1 hour in [image] HC1 at 100[degree] and chromato-graphed on Whatman no. 1 paper with development with 0.8 [image] HCl in 70% tert.-butanol. The spots for individual bases are identified by fluorescence in u.-v. light, extracted with 0.1 [image] HC1 and measured spectrophotometrically. The analysis of a specimen of yeast nucleic acid is given.
