Abstract
Lesions of the cerebral cortex are generally accepted as a potential source of psychological change, and the difficulties that may arise in distinguishing between one of the psychiatric illnesses at present regarded as idiopathic and one due to a lesion of the prefrontal cortex, the temporal lobe or the posterior parietal region are well recognized. Since there is normally a continual functional interplay between cortex and subcortical structures, lesions in the latter may also be expected at times to produce changes in psychological function. Keywords
