Experiences with the rotation femur head prosthesis in the treatment of medial fractures of the neck of the femur in geriatric patients

Es wird über 167 mediale Schenkelhalsfrakturen (166 Patienten, Durchschnittsalter 82 Jahre) berichtet, die mit der Rotationsfemur-kopfprothese (Allo-Pro®) versorgt wurden. Die Indikation zur Implantation der Halbprothese orientierte sich an der Frakturform und dem Allgemeinzustand der Alterspatienten. Von 94 Patienten liegen Verlaufskontrollen drei bis 53 Monate (im Durchschnitt 18 Monate) nach der Operation vor. 67 Patienten erreichten wieder jene Aktivität, die sie präoperativ gewohnt waren. Der Vorteil dieses Operationsverfahrens besteht neben dem relativ geringen operativen Trauma in der sofortigen Belastbarkeit und der Möglichkeit der Frühmobilisierung. We report upon 167 fractures of the medial femoral neck (166 patients aged 82 years on average) that were treated by hemialloarthroplasty (trunnion hip prosthesis Allo-Pro®). 94 patients were followed-up from three to 53 months (average 18 months) post-operatively. 67 patients regained their full physical activity. This operative technique is indicated in fractures with high risk of femoral head necrosis and in patients with reduced physical conditions. We see the advantage of hemialloarthroplasty in the relatively small operative trauma and the possibility of early mobilization.
