The Interaction between Acid Dyes and Nonionic Surfactants and Its Effect on Sorption and Diffusion Behavior

Abstract
Investigations of the distributions of two acid dyes within a dyed polyamide 6 substrate have been performed using the rolled-film method. The diffusion coefficients of the dyes increased with increase in the dye concentration in the dyebath and in the polymer. The more hydrophobic dye exhibited anomalous behavior which has been attributed to diffusion of small dye aggregates. Diffusion behavior of this dye in the presence of a nonionic surfactant has been explained in terms of the interaction equilibria between dye and surfactant species in solution.
