SATURATION AND THE TRANSIENT NUTATION EFFECT

Abstract
The relationship between the spectrum of an ensemble saturated by coherent radiation and the forced transient response of that ensemble to the saturating field is derived. An experiment equivalent to the optical analog of the transient nutation effect is proposed.Keywords
