Abstract
The role of S. saprophyticus in urinary tract infections in men was investigated. Of 9314 urine specimens cultured from men in a veterans hospital only 3 (2 patients) yielded S. saprophyticus. Thus, S. saprophyticus rarely causes infection in older men and should not be sought routinely by microbiology laboratories in hospitals serving men primarily. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
