Abstract
The discrepancy between theory and experiment for the plasma broadening of the dipole-forbidden components of spectral lines is discussed. A calculation using a new formalism which rigorously includes the ion-dynamic perturbations is made. There is a significant improvement in the agreement with the experimental data. Keywords
