Abstract
Viscosity, density and conductivity measurements for CaCl2 solutions in the water–propan-1-ol system containing up to 70 mol% of alcohol at 25 °C have been performed. The modified Jones–Dole equation was used for the analysis of viscosity data of the associated electrolyte. From the limiting ionic conductivity data, measured by us previously, the A coefficients in these systems were calculated. Conductivity results were analysed by the Fuoss–Edelson method. The limiting conductivity values of CaCl2 are given. Based on the analysis of conductivity results, it has been found that there is practically no ionic association in CaCl2 solutions containing up to 10 mol% of propan-1-ol. Ionic association was taken into account in solutions containing > 10 mol% of propanol and the values of B coefficients were calculated: B1=BCaCl++BCl– and B2=BCa2++ 2BCl–. The calculated values of the B2 coefficients of the modified Jones–Dole equation are considerably higher than those of the uncorrected B coefficients. Keywords
