Abstract
This paper provides a critical comparison of several approximate microfield distributions. Included are versions of the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor approximations together with two approximations based on independent-perturber models. Where appropriate, results from a more complete theory will be used as reference. Monte Carlo results will be used in circumstances where the validity of the reference results are uncertain. Keywords
