Abstract
The directional angular correlation of the 909-1850-kev cascade in has been measured with a coincidence scintillation spectrometer using NaI detectors. For a dilute Y aqueous solution source, the observed correlation function, after correction for the finite angular resolution of the detectors, is given by . The theoretical correlation function for the sequence is ; hence it is concluded that both of the transitions in the cascade are pure multipoles.
