Abstract
Digital vascular responses to bradykinin, kallidin and eledoisin were studied in 10 subjects without cardiovascular disease. In 6 subjects total digital volume (TV) increased while the volume (IV and rate (IR) of the digital inflow of blood decreased. In 4 subjects IV and IV as well as TV increased. Digital ssin temperature increased in all subjects. An increase in skin temperature and total digital volume at the same time that IV and IR decrease is best explained by selective closure of the arteriovenous anastomoses. Although the volume of blood flowing into the digit decreases, less blood is shunted out of the digit and the effective blood flow increases so that more blood is trapped in the digital venous reservoir and TV increases. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
