Abstract
Renal function was measured by the clearances of inulin and diodrast and by the dio-drast Tm. In 3 [female][female] with essential hypertension renal function was detd. before conception, during pregnancy, and after delivery. In 4 other [female][female] with essential hypertension renal function was detd. during pregnancy and after delivery. The glomerular filtration rate and tubular excretory mass were unaffected by pregnancy. The effective renal blood flow was higher during pregnancy than before conception or after delivery. In 2 [female][female] with chronic diffuse glomerulonephritis, the glomerular filtration rate, effective renal blood flow and tubular excretory mass were unaffected by pregnancy. Comparison of results obtained during pregnancy and for an observation period of 1-4 yrs. after delivery, indicate that pregnancy itself when uncomplicated by specific toxemia does not cause any deterioration of renal function in [female][female] with essential hypertension or chronic diffuse glomerulonephritis. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
