Abstract
Large (9mm diameter) and small (0.8mm diameter) skin allografts transplanted to testis and greater omentum in guinea pigs survive longer than do large orthotopic skin grafts. Small skin grafts outlive large ones. Allografts of isolated pancreatic islets transplanted to the omentum survive longer than skin allografts of equivalent size. The extended survival of allografts of isolated pancreatic islets in the testis and in the omentum is probably due: an element of privilege in both grafts sites, of unknown nature, the small amount of tissue transplanted and weaker antigenicity of pancreatic islet tissue as compared with that of skin. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
