Abstract
Appropriately diluted synovial fluids from thirteen of eighteen patients with rheumatoid arthritis induced in vitro transformation of autologous peripheral blood lymphocytes. By contrast, no significant transformation of autologous lymphocytes was induced by ten of eleven synovial fluids from patients without rheumatoid arthritis. These studies suggest that a similar blastogenic response in vivo may perpetuate subsynovial lymphoid hyperplasia and chronic synovitis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
