Abstract
Nickel films varying in thickness from 300 to 15A were prepared by evaporation on glass substrates in a vacuum sufficiently high to prevent gas adsorption on the film during preparation and measurement. Their magnetization was measured as a function of field up to 10000 oe using a vacuum torsion magnetometer. The saturation magnetization of these films was determined as a function of their thickness at various temperatures. No decrease in saturation magnetization from that of bulk nickel has been observed for films of thickness down to 20A, at room temperature. The Curie temperature of a 30A film was found to coincide with that of bulk nickel.
